Oh be still my freakin heart!

Must calm down. Must breathe. Is upsidedown the same as breathing into a bag?

Phil Gigante emailed me!!!!
In case you don't know, he's the voice on Karen Marie Moning's audio books. A talented actor and director, he purrs Karen's Highlanders with such wicked voice. Need a moment to fan self, perhaps I should step outside, it's something like 12 degrees, that might cool me down.

There is no other reason for this post except to gush over that voice. I adore Moning's Highlanders and now am completely captivated by Mr. Gigante voicing them.
I sooo have to do a story in which the wicked voice is center stage. Of course erotic. At this point I don't think it's going to be a romance. Just a tale about what a wicked actor can do to his devoted fans with just his voice. OMG I have got to stop thinking about that.

There better be more!

I must have more!
Just finished one audio book by Karen Marie Moning as read by Phil Gigante. Currently on the hunt for MORE.
If you've ever enjoyed a Highland book, and Moning does them soooo well, you must hear it purred to you by a man who can put sin into voice.
http://cubiesconfections.blogspot.com/2008/01/i-am-so-screwed.html This is where I first heard of the dark voice. Now I'm a hopeless fan girl or a ruthless hunter, um...perhaps they are the same thing, but I must have more Moning read by Phil G!!!!!!

How it goes

Writers all have different processes in the creation of a book. Some appear to have lightening fast skills that result in a finished work every couple months. I'm in awe of them.

My process goes something like this.
Idea=write the scene.
Muse suddenly has more I must write now!
Reread above material and spend two months rewriting it.
Show critique partner.
Rewrite beginning because it's stupid... I always end up rewriting the opening...Still no ending.
Finally find ending.
Send to critique partner.
Critique partner uses kind, gentle words = rewrite ending coz it has to make sense.
Send to editor
Month later hear what she noticed needs fixing, of course she's right and I wonder why I never saw that.
Rewrite the parts that make sense only to me and the flying monkey that is my muse.
Send to editor.

It goes on, but you get the picture. For me, the editing process is like sculpting the story. Cutting away the excess to reveal the image inside.

So it takes me a while to drag the story I want to tell out. Some of them I think I know before I start writing, but then things just seem to happen on the page as I go and the story is quite different when it tells itself.

Happy New Year!

I'm planning on enjoying this year! That's my resolution I guess, an expectation of joy.

I also plan on being able to write more than before. So that is joy.

I plan on spending time with friends I hardly see at RT and the LF Get Together. That's the really good girlfriend joy.

I intend to spend more time with family, partly because their needs have increased with old age, mostly because helping makes me feel good. Lots of family joy there.

I will draw this year. Since taking up writing I haven't given my muse her pen and ink. Mostly because Muse and me love to draw, but we don't sell what we draw. LOL It's easier to sell a manuscript. So perhaps I should get a journal book and draw every morning as if I were keeping a journal. That would be interesting. There is the personal joy of doing something just for me.

There is more but I figure you get the idea.

Thank you all for giving me the joy of writing. I know I do it but if you didn't read it, I wouldn't find it such a joy.
